Mafia XXIX: Game Thread

Okay, it is past midnight for me so don't expect too many more posts from me until late into the day.

I'm going to lay a vote down now. I will say my most suspicious candidates are Bleys, Sharkythesharkdogg and Fynn. No particular order here.

I found Fynn suspicious primarily for something Karifean picked up:

I think we need to lynch someone. Bleys seems pretty lynch-happy so far, so that she suspicious I guess.

Looking at the vote record, I think everyone could be described as lynch-happy. Picking out Bleys seems... irregular.

For Sharky, it isn't because he voted for me. It was the reason. To remind: basically I was being too innocent and creating confusion with my wily ways. Yet Sharky has contributed little to the 'serious' discussion. The thing worse than someone who is quiet is someone who posts fairly inconsequential things. It clutters the thread and makes it hard to read and catch up.

As for Bleys, well I've already said my general suspicions, but that's all they are: general feelings of mistrust, but I can't deny he's driving conversation. How suspicious he ends up depends on future actions. For now, he remains a 'subject of interest'.

Just to confirm to people that Sharky is now on 2 votes, meaning he will be lynched if nothing else changes. Just to put things in perspective.

I do agree with Bleys: Mafia is more dangerous than Third-Party people. Complicating matters is we don't know what roles are in play on the 'Purple' side, and play-styles can really vary depending.

If the neutral roles in the game don't require one faction to lose in order to win, then the game continues after they fulfill their win condition.

Example: Should there be an Executioner in this game, they would be able to win alongside a faction victory (town or mafia).

Slothy's vote seemed fairly silly, and it was during that 'everyone vote silly phase'. Sharky's vote didn't seem silly. It had a definite reason and purpose. Unless he was actually joking when he said I was playing my name too much, but who knows?

For the record, no matter what point in the game, I'm uncomfortable with 'silly votes'. I know a lot of people do it, but it is all too easy for someone with a motive to 'silly vote' their actual target later on, and then just... forget to change it to a serious vote later on, or be too busy.

Plus I think it is distracting. I'm all for silly finger pointing, but votes are votes in my opinion!

I'm changing my vote. I'll be honest and say that it's not for a definite suspicious reason, though I mentioned I share some of the suspicion of Bleys earlier on. But the main reason is his play style rubs me the wrong way to the point where I feel he confuses things more than he's helping and I honestly am not sure if he's the sort of person I'd ever be able to get a firm read on one way or the other.

If you get lynched and you flip town then sorry Bleys. No hard feelings. I just can't get my head around you're style and where you fall in the grand scheme. I'd rather take the chance on someone who doesn't sit well with me over a random silly vote, and I honestly can't tell if you're a town with so much experience it's frightening or a mafia trying to confuse the hell out of everyone.

tbh I thought my play was obvTown as smurf all day, but I underestimated the level of paranoia my number of offsite games would create. At this point, I think the only thing that will counteract that will be my flip.

My jester play would be a lot more random. You wouldn't like it.

For me, confidence is a very slight Scum-tell, at least on Day One. There simply isn't enough information Day One to make a completely justified decision.

Mafia have the advantage in that they know who is and isn't them. Thus, I find confidence to be slightly suspicious. Not that being confident is bad. If you have a case against someone, stating that case with confidence can help rally others against someone you believe to be Mafia, but Day One is too early.

How I see it now, we are effectively deadlocked. Mafia like it when Town is in confusion.

That or you're a jester. A really, obvious, voting themselves type of Jester. Seriously though what's the game here? No Town player would voluntarily vote themselves. They're removing a confirmed town player (themselves) from the mix.

And this early on Pumpkin, there was hardly any pressure on you to make such a "I'm voting for myself, therefore I'm innocent" kinda of move.

I find this move suspicious. I can't see a Town doing this move so early and without pressure. I can kinda see a Mafia make this move if things got desperate enough. A jester makes sense, but this is a very obvious play.
